BRAIN AQP4 DURING EXPERIMENTAL ACUTE LIVER FAILURE
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) was defined as a complex neuropsychiatric syndrome triggered by severe liver pathology and manifesting covert overt alterations up to hepatic coma death [1]. Acute failure (ALF) results in acute (AHE) characterized brain edema caused mechanisms closely linked ammonia toxicity [2]. Astrocytes are central cells the most sensitive being primarily source of glutamine synthetase (GS), therefore astrocyte swelling is principal feature AHE [1-3]. Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) one molecules responsible for water homeostasis cell volume health disease presents abundant channel CNS. According current HE pathophysiology, alteration AQP4 regulation can play role progression Considering high heterogeneity astroglia populations CNS, involvement links also sustain mentioned conventional diversity. The purpose study determining level different rat regions conditions ALF.

Evidence for liver cell proliferation during fatal acute liver failure.
Liver cell regeneration was assessed by determining the mitotic index and the frequency of liver cells with interploid DNA values in livers from patients dying from fulminant hepatitis. For comparison, the same parameters were determined in patients with uncomplicated hepatitis. We found comparable levels of regeneration in the two groups, indicating that the rate of liver cell destruction is a...

The patient, who was 28 years old and in her first pregnancy (34 weeks), was admitted to the obstetric ward because of jaundice. She complained of weakness, anorexia, and vomiting. No history of high blood pressure was reported. On the first day of hospitalization she spontaneously delivered a ‘mors in utero’. The immediate postpartum period was followed by a severe haemorrhage and it became ne...
متن کاملAction of Vitamin E on Experimental Severe Acute Liver Failure.
BACKGROUND Severe Acute Liver Failure (ALF) is a life-threatening clinical syndrome characterized by hepatocyte necrosis, loss of hepatic architecture, and impairment of liver functions. One of the main causes of ALF is hepatotoxicity from chemical agents, which damage hepatocytes and result in increase of reactive oxygen species. The vitamin E isoform is the one with the strongest biological a...
متن کاملAcute liver failure.
Acute liver failure in children is associated with a high mortality. Most cases in our setup are due to water borne hepatotropic viruses HAV and HEV. The clinician must be aware of the earliest and the subtle signs of acute liver failure to identify cases early enough and institute supportive therapy. Focus of therapy has to be on prevention, early recognition and appropriate management of comp...

Acute liver failure (ALF) (sometimes referred to as fulminant hepatic failure) is a clinical syndrome from a variety of causes resulting from rapid loss in hepatocyte function, typically associated with coagulopathy and encephalopathy in a patient without preexisting liver disease or cirrhosis. Cerebral edema is a cardinal feature and may produce uncal herniation, yielding brain stem compressio...
